Moveable and the Piano Monster
Tonight at Metrix Create I listened to Ranjit Bhatnagar and Zachary James Watkins talk about their “Piano Monster” in anticipation of its performance tomorrow night at Chapel Performance Space.
The monster is a rather weird little series of motorized arms with smooth or serrated disks that lay on top of the piano strings.
As a very interesting side note, Ranjit made cool handmade instruments every day for the month of February. My favorite was the “blinky” instrument, in which he hooked up microphones to the bulbs on a string of Christmas lights.
